Erika Yamin, Psy.D., M.A.

My approach is warm, authentic, and nonjudgmental. I aim to honor the uniqueness of each person and tailor my approach to best facilitate individual journeys and goals. It takes time to build trust, and it is my privilege to be your partner in personal growth. I am continually awed watching my clients heal and transform.

I work with adults, adolescents, and couples on a wide range of issues including anxiety, low mood, trauma, relationship concerns, and life transitions. I have a long-term passion for supporting women's reproductive mental health, and extensive experience working with women and couples in this area.

I began graduate school at the University of Chicago where I earned a M.A. in Cultural Anthropology. My research was focused on women’s cross-cultural experiences becoming mothers. I went on to earn my doctorate at the Chicago School for Professional Psychology, where I served as Fellow of The Chicago School’s Center for Multiculturalism and Diversity Studies from 2012-2013, and co-creator and President of The Women's Group from 2011-2013.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Illinois.

Jessica Ellis

My journey to becoming a therapist began many years ago with my own therapy. I believe counseling can be transformative and is something everyone should have access to, regardless of background, circumstance, or identity. After all, we all need support sometimes. My goal is to empower. my clients using a client-centered, trauma-informed, and integrative approach. I also employ mindfulness, as well as somatic and neuropsychological strategies to help my clients cope with difficult circumstances. Much of this includes a desire to understand and walk alongside my clients without judgment. I approach life and my work with humor, compassion, and empathy.

I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Counseling at the Family Institute at Northwestern. In addition, I have spent almost 10 years providing consultation, research, evaluation, and training support to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS); this work includes collaborating with administrators, social workers, and therapists to provide trauma-informed services to youth and families. Trauma, at the individual and systems-level, is a special interest and passion of mine. I have experience with relational trauma, sexual trauma, and women’s reproductive health concerns. I also have a broad interest in more general mental health issues such as anxiety, depressed mood, and grief.

Marika Yip-Bannicq, Ph.D.

My approach is centered on building a warm, compassionate, and collaborative therapeutic relationship that empowers clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors free from judgment. I believe that we are all influenced, but not defined, by our relationships and past experiences, and that understanding these connections can foster profound healing and growth. I draw from a range of psychodynamic perspectives and techniques to support clients in identifying and working through challenges, conflicts, unresolved traumas, and relational patterns that can contribute to emotional distress and interpersonal difficulties.

I am currently working on my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the Family Institute at Northwestern. I also hold a PhD in Social Psychology and a Masters in Psychology from New York University and completed my postdoctoral training at the Columbia Couples lab at Columbia University. My psychological research is dedicated to studying interpersonal dynamics in close relationships, with a special focus on understanding how to help couples navigate relationship conflict in more constructive ways. I am passionate about the connection between personal wellness and close relationships, and I believe that growing strong, supportive relationships can be transformative for personal health and wellbeing.
